Session 05 — Import and Validate the Finished Modules
Why this matters
In this final exercise, you will install the finished modules and check that the complete set works together in LogicMonitor.
Do not rebuild anything from scratch. Use the completed JSON files in this session and focus on checking the result in the portal.
Import this first
Use the shared import steps for each file below.
Import order
addCategory_Training_FabricTraining_Fabric_ControllerTraining_Fabric_Node
Use these refactored JSON files for the final import:
The PropertySource must run before the DataSources can target the resource by category.
Check your result
- Confirm the resource has the
Training_Fabriccategory and theauto.fabric_*properties. - Confirm
Training_Fabric_Controllerapplies to the resource. - Run controller collection. Check that all three datapoints receive values and the standard graph displays them.
- Run node Active Discovery. You should see three online node instances; the offline node should be left out.
- Open the discovered instances and check their
auto.role,auto.site, andauto.statusproperties. - Run node collection. Check that each metric appears under the correct node.
- Review the datapoint descriptions, units, standard graphs, and node overview graph.
- Poll again. Confirm that values update, graphs continue to render, and authentication still works.
- Enable debug only while testing, then return the modules to normal runtime behavior.
Final checklist
- The PropertySource enriches the intended resource.
- The targeting rules do not affect unrelated resources.
- Controller metrics collect without Active Discovery.
- Node instances keep the same IDs between discovery runs.
- The offline node is excluded.
- Node metrics appear under the correct instances.
- Standard and overview graphs display the collected values.
- Authentication is reused when it is safe to do so.
- The finished JSON imports cleanly and matches the scripts you tested.
Key idea
Validate the complete module suite by checking targeting, output, instance identity, properties, datapoints, and graphs together.
